Melba S. Bjornson, Financial Analyst
Current Status:
Melba Bjornson advises small to medium-sized growth businesses with various financial analyses to support organic growth as well as growth through mergers and acquisitions. She retired from Ashland Inc., a Fortune 200 chemical company in 2007, as Director of Corporate Financial Analysis after a 30-year career. Melba resides in Villa Hills, KY with her husband, Glenn.
History and Specialty:
Melba was born in Huntington, WV, where she lived until relocating to the Greater Cincinnati area in 1999 with Ashland Inc. She is a summa cum laude graduate of Marshall University, holding a BBA in Accounting and a MBA in Finance. Melba held a variety of accounting and finance positions at Ashland, working for Ashland Petroleum Company and later the Corporate Finance department. In this role, she supported senior executive decisions with financial analyses focused primarily upon transformational business combinations, joint ventures, divestitures and spin-offs of the firm as it evolved from a refiner/marketer with seven related business segments into a chemical company.
In addition to large strategic transactions, Melba is also well versed in smaller transactions and the grass-roots growth analysis associated with operating divisions. She is an effective team leader and skilled communicator. Her business acumen and negotiation skills gained by working in a corporate headquarters environment prove critical to businesses seeking to grow.
