About Second Creek
Meet the Second Creek Team
Todd Nessel, Technician
Todd was born in Chicago, Illinois but spent his childhood living in West Virginia and California. He finished high school and one year of college in West Virginia then headed back out west in 1982. In 1994 he relocated to Michigan where he stayed for 13 years before returning to West Virginia to work at Second Creek and attend graduate school at Marshall University.
Todd’s path to working in the IT industry began with his work in the advertising business. He served as a typesetter, graphic artist, magazine editor and art department supervisor. It was during his time as a supervisor in 1989 that his IT experience began. The advertising agency that he worked for was one of the first in the country to migrate from the old fashioned typesetting, paste-up and camera work to all digital ad production on the Macintosh. From there his experience with IT expanded.
In early 1994, he began working for a publishing company in Detroit where he expanded his IT experience into Microsoft Window and Linux. In 2001 he went to work for a casino as their Network Administrator and was responsible for the operation of over 30 servers and hundreds of connected clients. While at the casino, he managed several projects, including one high-profile gaming-related pilot project. His input and involvement, along with his colleagues, during this development period led to the installation of this particular technology in hundreds of casinos worldwide.
While in Michigan, Todd graduated from Wayne State University with his Bachelors degree. Todd has completed many IT training courses including: Microsoft SQL Server, Dell/EMC SAN Administration, and Symantec Data Protection Training. He currently lives in Charleston. Todd’s son, James, is a Junior at Wayne State University in the pre med program. When not working or studying, his hobbies include aviation, woodworking, amateur radio, hunting and shooting.
